You created every part of me, knitting me in my mother’s womb.
For such handiwork, I praise you.
Psalm 139: 13
Well the church retreat was great, though the late nights and early mornings are taking their toll on me. I returned to some sad news. Hilda, one of the loom knitters from the Deccor accents Group passed away on Saturday afternoon. She was a faithful and generous knitter who shared her love for knitting with her son Lonnie, one of the few male members of our group. He will miss her, as will we.
Hilda knit for charity quite often and I know that the charities she frequented will miss her handiwork.
This just cements some of the things I was thinking about this weekend. Our pastor asked us to make two goals for the coming year. I have been reflecting as you know on what I can do to use my knitting to help others. Then the shawl ministry book came from my secret pal. I have decided to put the two together, and make prayer shawls. My goals are to knit at least one prayer shawl every two months. I think this is a managable goal, with all the other things I have to get done!
The second goal is to get at least two or more people locally here involved in this with me.
This may prove more challenging. I already have three people in mind to make shawls for, and perhaps one to teach about making them.
I’ll end with this. Here are some exerpts from a prayer for comfort from the shawl ministry website. I post it here for Lonnie, and any others who need comfort at this time, this is my prayer for you:

May you find comfort
from all that appears too much to bear at this moment
from all that feels as if it might be the breaking point
from all that seems to threaten your peace of heart.
May you be strengthened
in your daily comings and goings
in your tentative new beginnings
in your unfolding new memories.
Blessings of the Angel of Comfort be with you and all you love now and forevermore.
A more lighthearted look at the happenings at the retreat tommorow, and my progress with making ruffles on the looms! Yes Ruffles!
