.. back to reality

Well Knitter’s Fantasy was interesting!

It took what seemed forever to get there!! I was there right at about 9 am which means by the time I signed in and oriented myself, I was a few minutes late for my first class. So I ended up sitting backwards at the table. The first class was Illusion Knitting. It was interesting and very good. I not only learned how to follow the chart to knit it I learned how to actually chart my own design.

Pretty cool!

Now you see it..

now you don’t!

This technique is well suited for loom knitting, once we get everyone reading charts!! I suppose you could write out the directions line by line but it would be rather tedious! (i just did the April Mystery KAL for Isela that way.. OI!)

Then there was lunch and a fashion show.. sorry I didn’t drag out the camera all day! I met Bonnie there (Hi Bonnie!) and she was super interested in my knitting loom.. I was playing around with it during lunch. I think we have another convert!!

Then a walk around the market. I was mainly looking for some sock yarn, or some kind of fairisle hat kit or something like that for color knitting but I didn’t really find anything like that.

I did pick up these on the swap table!

And I picked up three skeins of Casscade 220 to make some toys from my Unusual Toys to knit book!

The second class wasn’t so impressive. It was called ” the sweater that knits itself’ and should have been called the class that teaches itself. It was basically just sitting there and knitting this teeny tiny little sweater on teeny tiny little needles.. no instruction involved.. just sitting there following the pattern. I should have taken the Viking Knitting class.. naalbinding.. the ultimate ancient knitting without needles.. well there is always next year!

Don’t forget the deadline for the drawing for the 5 personalized Learn to Knit on Circle Looms book is coming soon! Get your name in to me by midnight EST tonight!! Details here.

And just for fun.. a fellow stash flasher.. click here.. Some stash!!

HI – I was in the same class as you for Illusion Knitting. You were smart to draw a square as your sample. My B never turned out, even after the third attempt. I think this technique lends itself better to solid objects that a shape with holes in the middle.

You had no need to be nervous – you did better in class than most of us! This was my first time at the event and I thought it was great. Sure, there were things that could have gone better, but it is so inspirational to just be around so many folks who like the same thing that you do.

  2. Ohhh, that is our May KAL actually :)…Jeannie is the designer :). It is going to be fun, fun, fun!! Isn’t Illusion knitting fun :)!

I think there must be something in the air because we all seem to be thinking about the same things at the same time.

I will be the designer for the May KAL and Illusion Knitting is the technique. I am really excited about this technique. I did not take a class, I just figured it out myself. It is alot of fun. I am using charts and actually find them much easier to follow than just written directions.

Are you as addicted to Illusion Knitting as I am? : )
