The Fatherless and the Widow..

You know the drill. We all go out and get those cards.. Dad your the best, you give it your all.. your name should be up in lights!…only we only knew the half of it.

You can’t get through my town this week without seeing a sign honouring Sgt. Dan Crabtree. Every business that has a changable sign has one, every digital sign flashes his name. Some businesses have even rented outu portable signs to honour this fallen soldier. He’s a Dad who did give his all, and as a result won’t be spending Father’s Day with his family..

I am lucky enough to be blessed with two Fathers.. the one who adopted and raised me and my birth Father who I reunited with some years ago.. (boy was that a surprise..for him..)

But do think of those who don’t have their Father’s today.. whether lost by war, an accident and illness.. and give them an extra hug, some extra care.. isn’t that what your father would do?

fatherless and the widow
stricken down by the hand of death
grasping for security
anticipation of the imminent next
of the imminent next
the fatherless and the widow
find their souls filled with fear
her lover gone forever
his hand to hold is never coming back
never coming back
behind closed doors they cry their tears
behind closed doors they reveal their fears
to the god in heaven above
to the god in heaven above

lyrics..Sixpence none the Richer..

  1. Well put Denise. Too many kids (particularly the young) are without their dads and it is so important to remember them and be thankful for our own dads today.
