Steeking is when you knit the body of a sweater in a tube, and then reinforce and cut open where the armholes (and quite often the neck). I just finished a test knit that involved steeking and really it is not as scary as it sounds! In fact I think the steeking was the easy part! So here are some suggestions for you to steek fearlessly. This is a great technique for loom knitters too by the way!
- Read everything you can on the subject!
- Gather your supplies…
- You might need some of these… if you are really faint of heart!
- Then make the cut!
Really it’s not as scary as it seems! Make a mini sweater and try it out! Practice makes perfect!
