And here you thought you wouldn’t hear anything about yarn at all this week. Well, you would be wrong! I was at the Dole Pineapple Plantation yesterday and found a great book in their shop! (It’s a great stop anyway, as the world’s longest maze is there! FUN!)
Fancy Hawaiian Lei in Crochetby Roberta E. Wong is a beautiful book!! I noticed that alot of Ravelers asked about how to crochet leis and this book is the answer!!
There are over 40 different designs for crochet leis in this book. And each one is unique and beautiful! After seeing people wearing leis all week I can also say that they are true to life as well. Many of them look like the real deal!
So if you are interested in transforming your yarn into some Hawaiian style this is the book for you!!
Mrs. Wong gives very clear directions both written out, charted out, and with pertinent clear photos of important steps. The book includes a legend of the chart symbols that is very helpful and then goes on to explain and illustrate how to make the stitches needed in the projects.
Now.. if I had only brought a little more yarn… sigh.. but wait! In the book there is a guide to shops on the islands where you can get supplies! And hey, one of them Craft Supply of Honolulu is right up the street! BONUS!!
Aloha! Off to Diamond Head, snorkeling (where I will only watch) and a luau tomorrow!
