Well I seem to have gotten my hot little hands on a copy of Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines by Kay Gardiner & Ann Shayne. Lucky lucky me!!
Ann and Kay have done it again! They have pulled together a great sequel to Mason-Dixon Knitting: The Curious Knitters’ Guide , filled with delightful stories, patterns and tips!
They have broken it up into 5 chapters..
- Decorating yourself-this is just for knitting for you! It starts out with the wonderfully interesting Mystery Sweater.. I see one of these in my future..
- The Fairest Isle.. yep you’ve got it! Faire Isle knitting.. and even… eek! Steeking!
- Covering the Small Human.. I like this chapter because hey, let’s face it, I have four small humans to cover here! I love the creative SK8R sweater! And loom knitters.. it looks totally loomable!!
- Occasional knitting.. while I don’t particularly need and occasion to knit, this section is chock full of things you would knit for the occasions that people occasionally knit for. My fav.. the knitted advent calendar. We have been ‘thinking’ about getting an advent calendar for a long time and this one is a great idea!!
- The Sophisticated Kitchen..some fun but practical project for the kitchen.. or er.. the dog?
Over all this is a fun colorful book! I love Ann and Kay’s stories as always, and having them peppered throughout the book among the patterns is a great change of pace from the usual knitting book.
I am sure you all will enjoy it too!!
